“Kelly’s Championship Martial Arts has been a big part of my son’s life.  Michael started with Tae Kwon Do when he was 13 years old. He was in middle school and was not involved in school sports. As a mother, I wanted him to be involved in something! Since he had always been interested in martial arts, we decided to try it. Michael immediately had great interest in it and we began to see the benefits. As my son started high school, he began to have more self-confidence and joined some groups at school as he continued his Tae Kwon Do training.

The feeling at Kelly’s Championship Martial Arts was more of a family feeling. I know that my son felt it too and felt that he truly belonged.

Michael continued his martial arts training all through high school, continued to be involved in school, and continued to make good grades. He grew from a boy who was not involved in anything to a well-rounded, confident person. Over the years, he participated in Tae Kwon Do tournaments and won some trophies. They are still on display in his room.

When Michael graduated from high school, he joined the United States Navy and was awarded a $150,000 scholarship to study in the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command to become a Nuclear Power Engineer. When he returned home on leave after basic training, my son was awarded his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do from JR and Miss Kelly.

Needless to say, I am so proud of the man that my son has become. I think that JR, Kelly, and Kelly’s Championship Martial Arts had a part in that and I am thankful for them.  I highly recommend Kelly’s Martial Arts to other families!”

Sincerely,

Janis Dirnbeck

"In November of 2008, our son, Nick, attended a birthday party at Kelly’s Championship Martial Arts. We had contemplated having him join a martial arts school in the past, not only to learn the awesome skill of martial arts, but to also help him learn respect and discipline. After the birthday party, I met with JR and discussed their martial arts program. Nick took a couple classes and enjoyed it, so we decided to let him join Kelly’s Martial Arts. After a while, my younger son, Sam, was watching Nick in class and becoming more and more interested. JR allowed him to participate in the class and soon he wanted to join KMA as well.

At the 2008 Annual Christmas Banquet, I had a chance to see what KCMA was all about. I was immediately struck by this and wanted to join immediately. After I joined, my wife decided to join as well. By the end of January, our whole family was taking classes.

"Joining Kelly’s Championship Martial Arts has had such a positive effect on my health... I was able to quit smoking, lose 35 pounds, and I am building muscle mass, as well as increasing my speed and agility."

Joining Kelly’s Championship Martial Arts has had such a positive effect on my health. I had been a smoker since the age of 16, but once I began sparring in martial arts, it became clear that I could not continue smoking if I wanted to be able to compete in tournaments. With JR’s encouragement and reinforcement, I was able to quit smoking. That was one year ago and I have not smoked since. In addition, I had been noticing my weight slowly increase year after year since I turned 30. Since joining KCMA, I have lost 35 pounds and am building muscle mass, as well as increasing my speed and agility.

Lastly, I want to emphasize how KCMA has brought our family closer. The boys are busy with school and homework and my wife and I work all day. We would try to spend quality time with the boys, but it always felt like everyone was moving in separate directions. Now my wife and I are able to take martial arts classes together. My favorite part is the 10 minutes twice a week when I get to tell her what to do in warm-up. Martial arts is an activity that has brought us closer as a family and is something that we can enjoy together. We made a deal with Nick that if he can earn his yellow belt he can begin sparring. He is one belt away and totally focused on starting sparring class with me and competing in tournaments.

Thank you to Kelly’s Championship Martial Arts and everything they have done for me and my family."
